New York bowlers had a very successful weekend in the northern american championships on the Boston road over the past weekend.Adrian Lappin did some excellent bowling to capture the junior c championship on sunday. Played for a stake of $2000 he defeated a gallant and sporting Florrie o Mahony by almost a. . bowl of odds.
Paul Lavery is the novice 1 champion as a result of a walkover from Con O Callaghan of Boston who was unable to throw as a result of an injury.History was also made when the West Virginia club produced its first North American champiuon with its representative Travis Putman being the overall winner in the novice 2 final.Best of luck to all three champions who will represent the region in the all-Ireland finals shortly.
In a make up double score the New York pairing of Paul Lavery and Brendan O Keeffe defeated the Boston combination of Brendan Fleming and Frank Finn by 2 bowls of odds for a stake of $4,000.A very enjoyable presentation night was held on Sunday after the scores.Thanks to the Boston club for a magnificent sporting and social weekend. |
