Martie and Garry Gourley - 2008-04-16 07:38:22

We have always enjoyed comming out for this as well as the day before for the mini-corps and Serenade in Brass and party after.
This year was no exception. The way the breakfast was set up with place cards and more round tables was great. I was disappointed in the breakfast though. It seemed like we paid a lot for little. They even cleared away my husbands plate before he was finished. The food was slow and not everything that was listed was on the table. What was there was good just slow and not really warm. Otherwise the party was great. I am a member of the Hanover Lancers and the Anaheim Kingsmen. The Lancers had 2 people inducted this year, and we are very proud of them. Thank you
Martie Gourley

We enjoy drum corps to the max. last year Garry and I not only marched with the Hanover Lancers but had the joy and privilege of marching with The Anaheim Kingsmen. We will continue to march drum corps as long as our bodies will let us and as long as there is the Lancers.

Really enjoyed my years with the Vandergrift Thunderers. I've often wondered what happened to the Corps and in particular the uniforms and equipment. Would love to hear from any other members from the 50's.

An impressive list of who's who in drum corps. I've been away from active drum corps since 1967 but still follow the activity and admire some of the people who I marched with that are still active in drum corps. God bless you all.

I would like to thank you for inviting my family to the induction ceremony yesterday in Harrisburg. My late father, Posie Pfaff of the Hanover Lancers Alumni Corp, was one of the members inducted yesterday. The ceremony was great and the biography of my Dad was very touching. Being a child of a drum corp member has always been one my fondest memories of my childhood. Thanks again.

Great to see more activity here.

The site is looking good Gary.
Just want to update you on CrossmenXtreme.

We're based out of Valley Forge Military Academy and College in Wayne, PA. Also, the corps (mini) is a member of MCA.

Looking forward to seeing you in Harrisburg, where we'll have our inaugural performance in the MCA show.

Contact me for any additional info needed.

The process of developing a biography and generating a photo for each individual member is and will be a long tedious project. Please keep in mind that we have over 130 members at present. It will be handled as expeditiously as possible. Thanks for your concern as well as your kind words.

The new face and updating to this website is professionally pleasing to the heart....I am also a Charter/Lifetime member and extremely proud with my involvement to the PADCHOF....We now need pop-up's on the members name for more background/corps/involvement for just a bit more members info....

Why is there no listing of the Archer Epler Musketeers as being the 1954 VFW National Champs?
Tony Brown - 2006-12-26 10:55:48

Great site! I'm proud to be a member with many of my friends from our activity. I hope that the kids today can have the opportunity to be a part of a drum corps. Many people from Archer-Epler and the other corps are no longer with us, and I hope they will never be forgotten! I'm just a hack soprano player but I really enjoy being a Musketeer. Diana and I have alot of fun playig with the corps. We now have our granddaughter Kayla living with us and we hope that she'll get involved too. See you soon! Tony B. CDHSMU'82 AE DSB

Good to visit here. Was with Imperial Knights Sudbury Ont and enjoyed competing in the RCA against PA corps. Trying to do a history of the IK and looking for our contest scores etc RCA 1972 to 76. Saw a post by Gary Matczak (linked to this site) in which he says he has all 1975 RCA recap sheets. Could we connect?
TONY BROWN - 2006-09-28 09:09:49

HELLO EVERYONE! STARTED MY DRUM CORPS CAREER WITH PHILADELPHIA PAL CADETS IN 1978 WHILE A MEMBER OF THE CARDINAL DOUGHERTY HIGH SCHOOL BAND. JIMMY BELL HANDED ME A VALVE ROTOR SOPRANO AND I STILL CAN'T GET USED TO PLAYING WITH BOTH HANDS! WENT TO "ARCHIE" BRIEFLY IN 1981-82 BUT MOM AND DAD DIDN'T WANT ME HANGING AROUND AND DRINKING BEER WITH THE OLDER CROWD. WENT INTO THE SERVICE AFTER HIGH SCHOOL AND I DIDN'T MARCH AGAIN TILL 1992. MIKE WILLIAMS ASKED ME IF I WAS INTERESTED ABOUT PLAYING WITH A ALUMNI CORPS AND THE I'VE BEEEN HONORED TO BE A "MUSKETEER" THESE PAST 14 YEARS.
THANK YOU, TONY B. CDHSMU'82 AE DSB

On August 19,2006 I had the honor of being installed in the Pa. Drum Corps Hall of Fame.
I went in with 8 other members of the Reilly Raiders alumni Drum Corps.
I am still on cloud 9 over this. I would have never thought that when I started out in 1960 with the Henry H. Houston Troopers as a Banner Carrier, & then moving on to Jr. Corps. that this day would come.
The Corps that i marched with are Rising Sun Cadets, Blusition Cadets, P.A.L. Cadets, The Minumen, Archie Alumni Sr., The Marksman Alumni (Springfield Ma.), Blesset Sac Alumni,
Reading Bucs Aumni, & Reilly Raiders Alumni.
Thank you all for this great honor.

I marched the Golden Lancers in '95 and '96 and fell in love with PA. I think the PADCHOF is a great idea.
Pennsylvania Drum Corps Hall of Fame Chairman - 2005-03-30 21:01:27

Hello Pam,

Thank you so much for your update on the Guardner (Tyrone) Guards. I happened to meet with a gentleman by the name of Cary Simpson a few months ago after visiting the American Legion Post in Tyrone where the Guards used to rehearse. He was very generous and made available to me copies of a lot of paper clippings and other memorabilia which I have passed on to one of our historians. We'll look over all that was given to us and make the neccesary correction in the not too distant future.

We would very much like to have whatever information you can supply us with regarding your Drum Corps, the Keystone Regiment. You can send information such as website address and whatever else you may have to PennsylvaniaDCHOF@comcast.net We will take it from there.

Thank you so much for alerting us to your Drum Corps and signing our yearbook. Hope to see you and your Drum Corps soon. Let us know where you will be performing and/or what parades you will be appearing in. Also let us know where and when you have rehearsal.

Thanks again.

The Pennsylvania Drum Corps Hall of Fame Chairman

I'm happy that PADCHOF is up and running. Looking forward to many years of being involved and being a member.
Pam Kane - 2005-03-27 11:39:10

Oh and - just for the record - the Gardner Guards started the second time in 1974 - BUT really began in 1956. The group changed it's name to the *Tyrone Guards* in 1976.

They were American Legion state champions in 1979 and 1980. The ending date for the corps was 1983 not 1981 as you have it listed.

Pam - former secretary of the Tyrone Guards - 1979 through 1983...
Pam Kane - Keystone Regiment - 2005-03-27 11:30:56

Hi - I was wondering how we can list info on your site? I am the secretary of the Keystone Regiment, a parade corps in Central PA. Weare based in Altoona but have members from about six surrounding counties. We are three years old and still building. We are a senior corps but have some rather young members. Please let me know how to be listed on your site. Thanks

I started my corp career w/ OSMOND CADETS in 1935 and left in 1942. Ijoined RISING SUN and left in 1944 to enter the army.came out of the army in 1946 and joined IMHOF SR. corp that same year in 1955 imhof had all but folded so i left and went out to ARCHIE. while i was in RISING SUN i had switched over to first baritone and had always dreamed of sitting in ARCHIE'S FIRST BARITONE section because it was the best in the country. i live in florida now , but i am still a member of archie's alumni.i was hoping to be inducted into the penna. hall of fame this year -- but mabe next year i miss playing in archie.

Hello PA Corps. Good Luck this season.

I started in the Yearsley Blackhawks, The Philadelphia Ridgemen Color Guard, PAL Cadets, The Earl of Bucks, and Blue Rock... I marched between 1962 and 1973/74.

Congratulations!

It's nice that there is a PADCHOF. It's a place of honor to recognize some of our great heroes and memories from an area that was consistently in the forefront of Drum and Bugle Corps activity.
